The Road of Our Choices

Through my own experiences, I have learned that our choices in life are either in God’s direction or in the wrong direction. In the ease of the latter, we may find that the road of those choices is more costly than we are willing to bear, but we will have to pay. These costs can manifest as emotional, spiritual, or even physical burdens.

So, what do we need to let go of in our lives to grasp God completely? We must let go of our past disappointments, shame, or failures. These can weigh us down and prevent us from moving forward in our spiritual journey. By forgiving ourselves and others, we can free ourselves to progress and move closer to God.  The cost of hesitation is desperation, which is the opposite of living in trust and patience with God.

To start on the path of walking with God, we must look to obey His ways. This means aligning our actions, thoughts, and words with His teachings and commandments. It also involves seeking His guidance and wisdom in all aspects of our lives.

Our Hearts- Loving God more than and above anything we have, obtain, or achieve, understanding all comes from Him

Our Minds- By seeking daily to know Him and His Word better. To establish our values and principles as the foundation of our lives.

Our Bodies—By recognizing that God gives all our strength, talent, and abilities and should be used for His greater purpose, not our own.

Our Resources—We must understand that all our resources, naturally and tangibly, come from God and must be managed to advance good.

Our Futures- By choosing to serve God and others as the primary purpose of our life’s work.

Now I know that this can all seem like a road of impossibility, or if you are like me, one that we seem unfit for, I share with you this. Even in all our discretions, God still pours out His unconditional love and endless mercy, remaining faithful even when we are not. This is a beacon of hope, a reassurance that we are not consumed and still have hope for better days.

So if you are like I was and you’ve run from God, ignored His way, disregarded His warnings, purposely rebelled against Him, or just chose to forget Him altogether, remember, it’s not too late. You have the power to turn back to the road to Him. For God does not ignore those who come to Him. He does not dismiss those who have a humble and repentant heart. He patiently and faithfully awaits those walking on the road to Him.

“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning! Great is your faithfulness!” Lamentations 3:21-23
