Humility, a virtue I’ve wholeheartedly embraced, is a powerful reminder that our self-perceived importance should never hinder us from helping those in need. As the scripture wisely states, in Galatians 6:3, ‘For if a man thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.’ This profound message underscores the fact that those who believe they are too preoccupied to aid others are, in reality, overestimating their significance and responsibilities. Every action, every choice, and every decision we make has a result.
Let’s always remember that we are accountable for every action, choice, and decision. Again, Paul cautions, ‘Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.’ (Galatians 6:7)
Understanding that God places more importance on our character than our accomplishments is crucial. This profound truth should guide our actions and decisions.
Not to cave under temporary cultural pressures of what’s good, such as the pressure to conform to societal norms, to prioritize material wealth over spiritual growth, or to value personal success over service to others. Instead, let’s look for laws and rules to correct and fix things, to guide our actions and decisions in a way that aligns with our faith and values.
“But let every man prove his own work” (6:4). Rules and laws don’t cause people to change. Only from within do they change. It’s about a change of heart, a change from within.
I learned this in what I call ‘God’s Development. ‘ It’s a commitment with a heart to God and His word to guide your life and a made-up mind to follow Him no matter what. ‘God’s Development’ is a spiritual growth and transformation process where we align our actions and decisions with God’s will.
“I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.” (Psalm 119:112)
It aligned my actions, commitments, purpose, and faith with Him, to keep doing what is right, not when it’s easy, not just when it’s convenient, but always and trusting God for the results. ‘And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.’ (6:9). Patience is vital, not just a virtue but a strength. Doing what is right may not yield instant results, but it will be lasting. So, let’s stay steadfast and keep moving forward, knowing that our perseverance in doing what is right will bear fruit in due time.
Seek to serve God wholeheartedly so that God can develop you. Whatever you do, give it 100% from your heart. Then, you won’t need to compare your life with anyone else’s. Now, let’s go! This is a call to action, an encouragement to step out in faith and live out our commitment to God.
