“Jesus Is For Everyone”
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, All of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” ~Matthew 11:28-29
Jesus invites us all!
He offers rest to those who come to Him in faith.
Through humility, we can be free from a “try harder, do more” religion.
Like many in this world whose lives are damaged by sin, drained of joy from the extra burdens society presents, or crushed by oppression, injustice, or persecution, this rest is for you.
Now, the “yoke” Jesus refers to are the challenges, work, and difficulties that come from following Him.
But whether you follow Him or not, life is still filled with these challenges. Yet His yoke remains easy compared to the crushing alternative of a life of self-powered effort alone.
In sharing His yoke with us, we suddenly participate in life’s responsibilities with a great partner whose shoulders can carry the weight of the world.
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” ~Hebrews 4:16
