“The Deed of Love”
This is what we are missing—
The deed of love for another.
“For this is the message that you heard from the beginning: We should love one another.”
—1 John 3:11 (NLT)
Love, real love, was never meant to be just words or emotions.
It is a deed—an action.
It is truth shown through how we live and how we give.
“Let us not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”
—1 John 3:18 (NLT)
This deed of love is selfless.
It is sacrificial.
It listens when no one else will.
It helps even when it’s inconvenient.
It encourages when hope is low.
It gives without keeping score.
The greatest act of love is to give of ourselves, expecting nothing in return.
This is love that puts others first.
This is love without expectation.
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
—John 15:13 (NIV)
Jesus didn’t just speak of this love—He showed it.
On the cross.
For you.
For me.
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for one another.”
—1 John 3:16 (NIV)
May we move beyond words and feelings.
May we walk in the way of Jesus—
Loving not just in speech, but in sacrificial deed.
